21-Year-Old Gets 2-Year Term for Kidnapping Minor in Vijayawada

On Monday a special POCSO court in Vijayawada sentenced 21-year-old Katta Abhinay to two years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs. 10,000 for the kidnapping of a minor girl. Justice Tirumala Venkateswarulu the chairman of the Vijayawada Cooperative Tribunal and the in-charge judge for the POCSO court delivered the judgment. The arraignment effectively exhibited Abhinay’s contribution in the kidnapping of a 15-year-old girl.

The case started on August 10, 2022 when the young lady’s folks detailed her vanishing from school to the II Town police headquarters. Sub-inspector Dhanalakshmi Prasanna registered a missing person report and launched an investigation. The police examination drove them to Abhinay an occupant of Old RR Pet. During tending to, Abhinay owned up to taking the young woman from her school to a facility in Gannavaram unscrupulously. Following his confession the police reclassified the missing person case to include charges under sections 366(A) (kidnapping) and 354(D) (stalking) of the IPC as well as Section 12 of the POCSO Act (sexual harassment of a minor). A charge sheet was recorded on August 22 – 2022.
