Manufactured homes, sometimes referred to as mobile homes or trailers, are houses completely constructed in a factory and built on a fixed, steel chassis (rather than a permanent foundation).
Manufactured homes are, as their name suggests, “manufactured” in factories piece by piece in accordance with building codes set by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The homes are transported to the home site and installed on either a temporary or permanent foundation.
A mobile home (also known as a house trailer, park home, trailer, or trailer home) is a prefabricated structure, built in a factory on a permanently attached chassis before being transported to site (either by being towed or on a trailer).
